Preparation Advised For Travelling Football Fans

Ahead of their clash in the Champions League final later this month, it is important for supporters of both Manchester United and Chelsea who wish to attend the game in person to ensure that they do not rule themselves out of the match.
Set to meet at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on May 21st, the final will be the first time that two English clubs have faced each other at this stage of the competition, with more than 42,000 soccer supporters set to travel to the Russian capital later this month.
For those looking for an effective way in which to pay for match tickets, accommodation, transport costs and other expenses, taking out a quick loan might be recommended.
However, research carried out by esure Travel Insurance reveals that a significant proportion of fans may find themselves coming under financial pressure and not be allowed into the city. According to the firm, some 15 per cent of football tourists state that they do not bother to make sure whether their passport is valid for travel. The financial services firm asserted that to gain access into the country, consumers must have a passport which has a validity of at least six months.
Meanwhile, just over a quarter (26 per cent) of respondents fail to take the time to check whether they will need a visa or any other kind of special documentation, although for the Champions League game match tickets are acting as a substitute for a visa. In addition, a Russian migration card is required to gain access into the country. It was claimed that if any of the above items are lost - or are not in place at all - consumers may find they have to dip into their own pockets to pay for a visa home.
As such, the financial services firm advised fans of the need to not only ensure they have the right travel documents but also to take out an adequate travel insurance policy.
Indeed, having a lack of cover may mean that tourists have to dip into their pocket to pay for medical treatment or replace lost luggage. This might have an impact on their ability to manage other demands on their finances upon their return home in areas such as credit cards, mortgage repayments and personal loans.
Commenting on the figures, Mike Pickard, head of travel insurance for esure, said: “Footballing fans may be so caught up in the excitement of the Champions League final that, in the sudden rush to book their flights and accommodation, they are overlooking the basics - such as booking travel insurance and preparing the important documentation required. Not only could fans be caught out by flying to Russia without the right documents to allow them entry into the country but with so many people travelling on the same day, delays are highly likely. It’s vital to plan ahead and read the small print of travel insurance documents to make sure you’re covered should anything unfortunate, such as a flight cancellation or baggage loss, occur.”
People looking for an effective way in which to fund a break might wish to take out a cheap personal loan. By doing so, borrowers may be able to go on the holiday of their dreams and be left with an affordable level of repayments to make. The additional monetary assistance which a loan provides could also help consumers to take out comprehensive travel insurance policy. Getting a loan for this purpose could be particularly recommended after a recent study by Halifax Travel Insurance indicated that 4.3 million Britons are set to go on a package holiday this year.
