Men ‘Willing To Splash Out When Treating Their Loved Ones’
Filed under: Personal Loans @ February 29th, 2008
Men are dipping deep into their pockets when it comes to treating their partner, new research indicates.
A study carried out by moneysupermarket revealed that the average Briton spends 1,015 pounds on their loved one each year. However, it could be that males may find that the cost of flowers, dining out, anniversary gifts and special holidays has the greatest impact on their finances as they shell out a typical 1,326 pounds each year. In comparison, expenditure by women comes to 659 pounds.
Furthermore, the price comparison website revealed that loved-up people living in London spend 1,776 pounds on each other, more than twice the amount that consumers from the north of England splash out.
Commenting on the figures, Richard Mason, director at moneysupermarket, stated that consumers from across the country are spending significant amounts of money on their partners. He went on to suggest that with 2008 being a leap year and today (February 29th) the day when tradition dictates women propose to men, now may be an ideal time for many females to get down on bended knee to ask the big question.
He said: “People might laugh at the north where the starry-eyed spend is less than half of that in London, but 873 pounds a year is still a pretty respectable figure. It’s certainly my job as someone who lives and works in the north to defend our romantic credentials. And it’s the Midlands that has the dubious honour of having three per cent of people spending nothing on their partner. With men showing so much generosity on the whole, perhaps a few females will repay that attention on February 29th with a proposal of their own and a gleaming gold band.”
Whether consumers are looking to propose marriage, book a holiday or buy expensive jewellery those looking for an effective way to fund the purchase of an extra-special present for their loved one might find that taking out a cheap uk loan could prove to be assistance.
Many men were also revealed to be willing to splash the cash on their cars as well as their partners, as the typical male is shown to spend 191 pounds on motoring extras. However, such expenditure rises among young people. Britons under the age of 30 were indicated as putting up an average of 956 pounds each to pay for non-essential accessories for their vehicle. More than half (53 per cent) of drivers were indicated as purchasing items such as alloy wheels, speakers and seat covers. Findings from moneysupermarket also showed that people living in the Midlands fritter 576 pounds on their automobile.
For those looking to carry out improvements on their vehicle or treat their significant other taking out a cheap loan might be of help as it could provide them with affordable repayments to make each month. In addition, a loan could be an effective way for consumers to go on the holiday of a lifetime. A recent American Express study revealed that 36 and 34 per cent of people from Scotland and Yorkshire respectively are to take their partners away on a romantic break abroad over the course of this month. Just over a quarter (26 per cent) of consumers in London are also looking to do this.
