The needs of customers with secured loans are changing, one lender has claimed.

According to Alliance & Leicester, the UK mortgage market is one of the most competitive and offers a wide range of loans to suit the needs of individual consumers.

With lenders regularly adding new home loans, specialist mortgages are available to suit the needs of all borrowers, said spokesperson Sally Lauder.

She explained that the changing needs of homeowners are being met by home loan lenders.

"The landscape of borrowers is changing. So with the advancement of specialist mortgages, that really demonstrates how the types of customers are changing as well."

Meanwhile, Darren Cook, head of mortgages at price comparison website Moneyfacts recently claimed that the growth of specialist home loans is "good news" for consumers.
